Lately, things have been crazy around here. If I’m not working, I’m either driving home from work, running an errand, meeting up with a friend, running off to some family event, or cleaning something. All I really want right now is 3-4 solid days of NOTHING but relaxation…AKA a VACATION!!! Too bad my hubby won’t take of work, nor will any of my friends…so no vacation for me! I’ve got some fun stuff coming up soon; a few photoshoots, family gatherings, etc, and I’m excited for a more relaxed work atmosphere for the summer (we slow down a lot!). Here’s a peek at my offline life!

From top, left to right: Homemade cards; at home mani/pedi; morning coffee; favorite accessory; new beauty buys, new bangs!; FAVE nail color (Honk If you Love OPI); new mags; bright wedges; fresh cut grass (by me!); breakfast panini; arm swag; college girl lunch; diet coke…everyday; photobooth pic of me and my pop; printed maxi skirts; embellished dresses; and pretty roses from our front yard!

Trend to Try: Neon

I know what you’re thinking….this isn’t the 80′s and I’m NOT going to wear neon. But I beg you…hear me out. Neon can be so chic and add that pop! to any outfit. Yes, you can go overboard and look like a bad 80′s music video, but if you play it up right, neon can be so fun! Just a few neon pieces in your wardrobe rotation can totally change any outfit!

Neon

Something as little as a bright nail color can really elevate your look. My faves are a neon yellow belt and a big, neon yellow statement necklace that I got at forever 21. I wear them both all the time with just about anything for an instant pop of fun!

Neon Two Ways

There are two ways to wear neon. You can either keep everything else pretty neutral (like the outfit to the right), simple chain necklace, skinnys, leather jacket, and for a little extra fun, leopard pumps. Or you can go more fun and pair a neon top with bright bottoms, floral flats and a statement necklace (or any other loud pieces). I like playing with different tones of similar colors (i.e. different shades of green/yellow, etc.) “Tonal dressing” for those of you who are very fashion minded. Just try to stay away from head to toe neon. If you’re going with a lot of color, only one piece should resemble the color of a highlighter.

 Sometimes, less is more, but sometimes, more is more. Neon is much more versatile than you may think, but if it totally freaks you out, start small with a neon belt, neon trimmed bag, or a neon cap toe flat. If you look in the mirror and are blinded by brightness, you may want to tone it down a notch. Also, for outfit inspiration, you can go to Polyvore and click on the “ask” tab and find advice on what to wear with just about anything!

Have you tried this trend yet?

Favorite Things

Hi everyone, remember me? I know I haven’t been blogging as much lately; life has been crazy (I’m sure you can all relate). We’ve had so much going on with family and friends, events, work and home improvements that I’ve barely had time to sleep, let alone blog. I’ve also been laying off the shopping a little bit (don’t worry, just a LITTLE bit) and I’ve been trying to manage my money better. It’s been a million years since I’ve posted an outfit, but lately I’ve felt a little uninspired. I’m determined to shop my closet and rediscover my wardrobe in a whole new light. In the meantime, here are some things I’m loving right now!

{new (to me) technology}

I know I’m a little late on the iPhone craze, but I was finally due for an upgrade and pulled the trigger and got the iPhone 4s. As a social media, game playing, shopping online junkie, this phone is perfect for me!

{arm swag}

All winter long I was really minimal with my accessories, and now that warmer weather is here, I want to take a more minimalist approach to my clothing and pile on the accessories to make my outfits special.

{mani essentials}

I get the driest, I mean the DRIEST, cuticles ever! Then I pick at them and they become a hot mess! I bought this China Glaze cuticle oil at Beauty Brands and I love it. I apply it to cuticles at night along with hand lotion and again in the AM and it keeps my cuticles moisturized.

{sexy summer sandals }

I bought these sandals a few weeks back and they are so perfect! They are really tall (and make my legs look great!) but are super comfy to walk in because of the platform! Adorable with sundresses and rolled up skinnys!

{a pop of color}

I’m a little obsessed with blazers at the moment; they give major style to any outfit. I pair mine with jeans and tees, dresses, shorts, and more! And I’m collecting quite an array of colors!

{handmade cards}

I’ve decided to put my scrapbooking supplies to good use and start making handmade cards once in a while. First project, Mother’s Day cards for all the wonderful mothers I know!

What are you loving this week?

Love,

Kristin xoxo
